Spiritual Marketing: Getting Your Message Out

We recently received a letter from a person who was very frustrated about her alternative practice.

She had built a website, invested in some training and had little to show for it.  She was now doing some EFT tapping to reduce the stress.

We wanted to offer some insights on this all too common plight.  Many people are struggling to build a successful holistic/alternative business.

OUR OWN UPS AND DOWNS

In the 1990’s we did a lot of trial and error building a holistic hypnotherapy practice and school.  Eventually we wrote books on EFT and Spiritual Kinesilogy.  Luckily Amazon.com came along. So we were able to do much better than the traditional bookstore route.  This was part of keeping with our dreams and goals – serendipities will happen.

Even though the first few years we didn’t make much profit, we knew we would do it anyway.  It was our purpose, our mission to help people fulfill their potential.  We were intent on making the world a more unified, peaceful place.

And even though there were numerous setbacks, we enjoyed teaching

classes, giving consultations and writing, so we kept at it. We realized we’d probably do it even without the money since it was so meaningful to us.  And we received a lot of great feedback from those we helped.

Staying with our dreams and goals and taking persistent action has well been worth it.  We love our lives and feel very fortunate.

“NEVER GIVE IN”

Winston Churchill asserted to never give in, and it helped his country win a world war.  So what could you do if you never gave up on your dream?

Actually giving up on yourself doesn’t make sense.  Without a dream, you live a life of quiet desperation, to quote Thoreau. If you give up on yourself and your dream, this too will lead to quiet desperation.

SOME IMPORTANT TIPS

Of course, there are many tips on how to succeed with your business and dream. We have created a whole free video series on “Marketing for the Spiritually Minded.”  See the lower right side of this blog under the category of “Spiritual Marketing.”

Here are some important tips to keep in mind:

•    Map out your dream and goal. It can be tied into your life purpose.

•   Invest in marketing skills and strategies for success.  At a certain point, we looked around and realized that successful people invest a lot in themselves. They don’t view it as just spending money, but as expanding their knowledge and tools to further their career

•    Write out your action and business plan.  What are your short-term and long term steps to success?  Successful people are also very action oriented

•    Persistence builds credibility and success. Remember Winston Churchill.

Never give in to defeat, although there will be times like you feel that nothing is working.  You may need a break or a renewal at that point.  Just know that you’re in it for the marathon, not the sprint.

THE WORLD NEEDS YOU

Yes your message is important.  Follow your soul’s promptings.  Allow feedback from the world on what you are doing.  Clear blocks with EFT and Spiritual Kinesiology.   And open to synchronicities.  Success then happens.

To the many frustrated marketers, we do know where you’re coming from as it’s been part of our journey, too. But remember that keeping your dream alive will attract what you need.

Just keep going.  Strengthen your resolve now.

The world does want to hear what you have to say.  You just need to learn how to say it and keep evolving.

What are your thoughts on persistence and getting your message out?

Selling ourselves is so hard. One of my biggest blocks had always been not believing I had something of value to offer. I always played it safe by advertising word of mouth that I was having a class and they were small. Charging a minimal fee or nothing at all for my Astrological readings/counselings, etc. I am beginning to understand, and much of it from my pursuing a Spritual Counseling Certifcation, that if we truly honor our Soul’s purpose and persistantly work towards that goal, we will be empowered to achieve it.

Bev,

I think you hit on a big part of the challenge, about “not believing I had something to offer.” Yes isn’t it about believing in yourself and following your guidance, and of course taking action?

Thanks for sharing!

I too am struggling with selling myself. I’m a writer and a marketer, so although I can market the products and businesses of others, to market myself is a huge challenge. I’ve reminded myself to be patient and let it come to me and some successes have, and I’ve felt wonderful with those achievements. But, when I look at what I truly desire, there is always a bit of fear that creates that desire. Is this, perhaps, what is blocking my manifestation of my dreams? Or, is a small amount of fear (keep in mind, I’m recovering from depression and anxiety disorder) natural?

Thank you!
Ronda

It’s interesting that this be brought to me tonight as I was just helping a friend with marketing ideas for her talent and desires. I would say that to stay focused it could benefit to actually loose focus because if you are seeing down the road you lay out for yourself and can’t seem to get down it, sometimes you have to step aside and let the road take you where it wants you to go…and then just follow it. So if you feel you have to market yourself in a certain way but find it’s not working for you, let it go, and just allow other thoughts to flow through you and see where they lead.

Rhonda,

You’re not actually “selling yourself;” the reframe is you’re offering your gifts and talents to the world.

Your issues do eventually come up to be cleared. The good thing you will be able to handle it, become stronger and share your gifts even better!

Phillip
