Are You an Introverted or Extroverted Marketer?: Part 2

In part 1 of this topic, we covered how introverted people correlated to three archetypal roles: server, artisan and warrior. Of course, we are composed of many facets, yet our roles are the primary to who we are.

In this post, we’ll examine the three extroverted roles: priest, sage and king, along with the neutral role of the scholar.

We will also continue to relate your role on how it can affect your marketing.

PRIESTS

Compassionate and uplifting, the priest role inspires others for the highest good.  A priest role is wanting to relieve people’s suffering and raise their consciousness. As a note, just as a warrior is not necessarily a soldier by profession, so too a priest is not necessarily a priest or minister or the like. Yet many warriors are soldiers and many priests fulfill the name of their role type.

•    Strengths: Can motivate others to accomplish more and fulfill their goals and deeper purpose.
•    Challenge: Can be an over-the-top marketer, coming across too zealously and self-righteously.
•    Action Steps: Channel your higher vision into practical marketing approaches that your niche wants and can understand.

SAGES

Cherishing the limelight and fun loving, sage types are wordsmiths, endlessly fascinated with words, even the definition of what “is” is, to cite sage type Bill Clinton. Sages add drama and spice to life. As they are natural story tellers and excellent communicators.

•    Strengths: Often natural marketers, they can be very persuasive. Excellent at speaking, videos, writing copy and taking center stage.
•    Challenge: May become manipulative and too salesy . May sacrifice integrity for being liked and making the sale.
•    Action Steps:  Be sure your marketing is coming from the heart, free of manipulation and serving others.

KINGS

A rare role (2% of the population estimated), king types are natural leaders like a Martha Stewart or Barack Obama. They can be any socio-economic status, but king types develop kingdoms around them, delegating authority and initiating actions that help lead others.  Seeking mastery, king types have strong overviews and able to have many people work toward common goals that for which the king is in charge.

•    Strengths: Great overview and ability to lead others. Big thinker and long-term planner.
•    Challenge: Can become too dominating and dictatorial.
•    Action Steps:  Acknowledge your competitors and those with alternative offerings. Work with others in ways that bring out the best in them and value their input.

SCHOLARS

Scholars are the only neutral role. They usually come across as quite detached and knowledgeable. To scholars, the world is a research project. They are librarians and scribes of the universe. They are avid, continual learners and share their wealth of knowledge with all the other roles.

•    Strengths: Often grounded and reliable with their abundant learning and research.
•    Challenge: Can get lost in studying and accumulating knowledge.
•    Action Steps:  Be sure to put your knowledge into practice.  Go from theory to practice.

CONCLUSION

All seven archetypal roles – server, artisan, warrior (introverted roles); priest, sage, king (extroverted roles); and scholar (neutral role) – have strengths and challenging areas. All roles benefit from connecting with their life purpose, studying marketing and being purpose-centered.

The good news is everyone, regardless or role, can succeed with getting their message out (marketing). Use your strengths, overcome your challenges and take your action steps.  You and the world will be much richer if you do so.

Your role, just like being a man or woman, is one important part of who you are. It explains many things and is one important piece of the puzzle of who you are. Of course, it’s not everything. It takes some time to put one’s role into context.
