2010 Game Plan: Your Year to Thrive

By Drs. Phillip and Jane Mountrose

Definitely claim 2010 to be your year to thrive. To help you succeed, we want to share with you a 7-part game plan. We believe each step to be crucial for short- and long-term success.

1. Identify your passionate goals.
As Janet Bray Attwood and Chris Attwood write in their book the Passion Test, your goals should be an expression of your passions. This will also relate to your life purpose.  Having passionate goals puts the wind behind your back, so to speak.

Express passionate goals using action words. Instead of “having 5 ideal clients and a great monthly group coaching,” use verbs expressing your passion. “I enjoy communicating with my five ideal clients and monthly coaching group.” Or “it’s fun to serve them.”

2. Align your actions with your goals.
Your actions should reflect your goals. Creating flexible strategies will help. Goals without actions is like having a great idea for a book without doing any research, writing or promoting of it.

Affirm “I keep taking actions toward my goals today.”

3. Commit to completing your goals.
Phillip once asked a store owner, whose store didn’t have many customers, how business was going. He asserted that “failure was not an option and I will succeed.”

Yes, you might need to revise your strategies or goals. But it’s essential to commit to overcoming the three “evil business saboteurs”: inertia, distractions and setbacks.

Be a strong finisher. Remember you are committing to yourself, your passionate goals and your life purpose. Isn’t that what you are here to do?

4. Invest in yourself.
Successful people are lifelong learners with intense curiosity. If you’re a holistic practitioner, you want clients who value you and want to invest in you.

So that means you need to value yourself and invest in yourself, which will also attract the right clients to you. You don’t want clients who are clinging to their money for dear life.

Over the years, we’ve made substantial investments in learning techniques and how to market our business, which has made a big difference for us.

5. Communicate to people how you can help them.
Craft a message about how you (with your passionate goals and gifts) can help your particular group (niche). Developing your marketing skills will give you the language and psychology you need to succeed.

6. Go beyond trading time for dollars.
Limiting your business to having to be physically present, such as in one-to-one sessions, will quickly tap you out, as there are only 24 hours in a day.

By having one-to-many offers (like teleclasses and group coaching) and creating products (like ebooks and home-study courses), you leverage your time and income.

Remember you help people by what you offer them and the value you provide, which is not restricted by spending time with them.

7. Have supportive people around you.
Find mastermind groups, meetup.com groups, forums and strategic alliances.

Warning: being a Lone Ranger can be bad for your health and business. Just as you are here to help others, others are here to help you, too.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Implement the above 7-part game plan in the right way for you. You are probably already doing some already. See which ones are your next steps, and take action.

Taking strategic action leads to prosperity.

We want to suggest one action that can incorporate the 7-part game plan above: Our International Association of Holistic Practitioners (IAHP) is designed for holistic practitioners who long to get their message out to create thriving practices.

If this sounds like you, we invite you to check out IAHP membership and its specially selected resource and success support community. It’s also a very affordable way to invest in yourself and business in an ongoing way.

Make 2010 your year to shine! It will be great for you and the world.
