In Part 1 of “When Things Don’t Work Out,” we discussed how to reframe setbacks you experience. It can be a learning opportunity, a time to be patient, a matter of timing, and a need for detachment.
In this post, let’s see what happens when you misinterpret what’s happening to you.
MISINTERPRETING RESULTS
Sometimes we see things not working out as a “sign” to give up. It’s certainly
possible that we are off track and getting some corrective feedback.
On the other hand, maybe there is another message in things not working out. For example, we know holistic practitioners who try a few things (learn some techniques and study some marketing) and then throw up their hands and say, “It doesn’t work – people don’t want what I have to offer.”
Hold on Nellie! If what you’re doing is part of your passionate goals, part of your life purpose, how can you give up on yourself?
Maybe the marketing you tried wasn’t sufficient, or you needed some more training or input. Maybe you didn’t implement what you learned, strategically plan enough, go through enough trial and error to get the results you wanted.
Good marketing, when aligned with your purpose, will produce positive results. It’s a matter of investing the time and effort. Do what it takes and still detach from the outcome – the result may be different from what you expected.
As we recommend, it’s good to have a life purpose and mission. Yet your life keeps evolving and changing, and can’t be fully known or mapped out. So as wise as it is to create your goals around your purpose, remember that life is a journey.
FINAL THOUGHTS
When things don’t turn out as planned, you have a choice. You can focus on the negative, perhaps becoming depressed and downturned. Or you can become grateful and learn what you can from the situation.
Return to a soulful perspective. As you detach from the situation and see the bigger picture, the sun can come through the clouds.
There are positive outcomes possible, in spite of what can now be seen as an initial setback. It can all be part of your spiritual path and life purpose, if you put things in a bigger context…
From the soul’s perspective, everything is part of the whole — the larger fabric of reality. So what might seem like a flaw from up close, becomes a part of the tapestry of life when you take in the larger view. Success and failure are woven in.
So keep creating a beautiful life. Know that even when you “mess up,” it’s still part of your life and it can turn out even better than expected if you let it.

I no longer have the website that was displayed – another one of my “failures”. I had a mini-stroke at a most crucial time and had to let go of it.
But I AM grateful to God for His “shock” treatment…I came back from that TIA after two months a totally changed person….I have a “given” goal – I am free of ALL the demons that I have tried to exorcise all my life and I’ve never been as happy. I still don’t have any money – I get along on a little bit of SS – but I have a loving family who tended me during my psychic vacation and I have a mind free of anxiety, self-coubt, guilt – you know- all that stuff that holds you back.
Thank you God.
As Ronnie noted sometimes we get shocked into an awakening. To keep going it’s wise to put your life purpose before you, doing what it takes to make it happen, while living in the moment and letting the best unfold.
Blessings,
Phillip
