z- Are You Selling Yourself Short?

We want to explore more about spiritual marketing or “marketing with a heart.”

As a jumping-off place, we wish to refer to a telling question that came to us  for our  “Overcoming Marketing Mindset Blocks with EFT” Teleclass:

“I have tried many things as far as my own businesses and offering services….because of that I have a lot of skills and knowledge, but no matter what I try, when it comes to selling myself or marketing, it becomes the biggest obstacle. The reason it is the biggest obstacle is that I am an introvert and no matter how many trainings I do, I highly dislike and am very uncomfortable giving presentations, doing cold calls, or being a “salesperson”, etc…..it’s way out of my comfort zone and don’t know if I can get past that. I am fine with one on one or very small groups though.”

To respond, we will examine three inter-related areas

1. Align with your life purpose

2. Learn marketing skills – and taper them to your life purpose

3. Stay “purpose-centered”

Let’s look at each of these essential areas.

1. ALIGN WITH YOUR LIFE PURPOSE

Your life purpose is a special alchemy of your gifts and passions. It’s about making your contribution. You may be more or less clear on what is your purpose.

By developing a stronger connection with your soul, or higher guidance, you will, sooner or later, get reliable insights and direction.

2. LEARN MARKETING SKILLS

When we were trained to be holistic hypnotherapists in the early 1990’s, there was little direction about how to market your business. Today many people still find the marketing side of their business as some combination of a mystery and distasteful activity.

Yet what we finally realized, it’s a matter of learning a set of skills.  Of added interest, marketing has a profound psychology to it as well.  Marketing has many profound, metaphysical aspects, both in understanding your own mindset and in attracting and helping others.

3. STAY “PURPOSE-CENTERED”

Let your purpose guide you. Let your gifts and passions craft your message. Let your deeper interests shape your offerings.

To be sure, your purpose is about stretching out of your comfort zone, which can at times be unsettling. Dealing with uncertainty is part of the growth process.

Yet you don’t have to do cold calls or be a traditional “salesperson” to succeed. What do you need to be? You need to be yourself. Your calling is to help the people who are looking for your special gifts, so they move forward, too.

Becoming educated about marketing develops the communication skills you need. It teaches you to be strategic and effective.

Sharing your gifts should be exciting. It’s what you’re here to do. Marketing is about reaching out to more people, in a way that feels good and that works.

AND ONE MORE THING

Yes, some people are more introverted than others, like the person stated in the original question of this post. Nonetheless, there is a place and way for each archetypal role, whether you’re a server, warrior, sage or another role.

In our next post we will talk about the different archetypes and how they affect marketing and getting your message out.

For now, just remember the above three points: Keep embracing your life purpose. Study heart-centered marketing.  Stay on purpose.
